X 5300 To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ.14.2.33. Re. Slipping Clutches on 20/25's. Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/E9.2.33 (Attached). There are several reasons for clutch slipping. The Depot Sheet sent round (Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}242) applies to the mysterious clutch slip which has been reported and which afterwards cannot be reproduced. With the synchro-mesh gearbox the clutch is certainly used considerably more than it has been on previous cars, also the present day traffic conditions of traffic lights means that more use is made of the clutch. The torque on the 25 HP. has not been increased very much, the extra performance has been obtained by maintaining the torque at higher speeds. There has been no alteration to the clearances and the design of the 25 HP. clutch which would account for this trouble. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
