V216 To BT.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} c.c. Mr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sft.{Mr Swift} PUG. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}4/HP.26.10.33. Bentley Crankcase. We send you herewith drawing: LeC.3677 shewing the middle bearing cap held by bolts instead of studs, and the horizontal web is radiused off where it meets the two side walls of the crankcase. We still retain studs for the other 6 bearings but these are tapped deeper so that the tension is less localized. These modifications have come about owing to an engine on the test bed unit having failed due to a broken middle bearing. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
