Bentley Coils.
-------------

Referring to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E.31.5.34. we were never satisfied with the milled nut scheme and what we did was to instruct an alternative in which the two coils were mounted together on the wheelcase with a high tension quick change terminal wired up as per the scheme supplied to customer, and provision for changing over the two low tension leads from one coil to the other without tools, using milled nuts and spring washers with coloured cuffs on the terminals for identification.

This scheme could go on production almost instantaneously and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is issuing a standardisation sheet for it.

We propose to proceed with a design for a simple neat switch to change over the L.T. but nobody likes for production purposes the two large coupled domestic tumbler switches which we supplied on the chassis you mention and we are anxious not to make it appear that our coil is expected to break down.

As soon as possible the Bentley should have two entirely independent ignitions always in operation and the question of any stoppage due to ignition trouble should be quite remote and easily checked.
