We have received your letter of the 16th, and noted contents. We are quite aware of the inconstancy of Bijur drip plugs under different temperatures. We are testing all the Bijur drip plugs under the worst conditions, i.e. almost freezing point. We have already reported on some points, and at the present moment are finally clearing up the remainder. We cannot as yet carry out any tests for carburation or Vacuum pump feed. We agree that the failure is due to air locks, but not from your views. We say this: when the petrol in the rear tank gets down to 1.1/2 or two gallons the wash of the petrol uncovers the feed pipe, then we get an air lock. At the present moment we have got the bare chassis minus gear box, front axle, rear axle, all silencer pipes, in fact the car is almost pulled to pieces. Naturally this is taking up a considerable amount of time as each bearing is being strictly examined, and all Bijur plugs are being checked in position. It will be another week before the car is re-assembled, therefore tests cannot be carried out. We were under the impression that this car had to be got ready for Mr. Royce as soon as possible. This cannot be done if investigation work has to be carried out other than what we are doing. We will endeavour to do all you wish in good time.
