10-EX - OPEN TOURING CAR. +8830

We have removed 10-EX from Barkers, as it is more convenient to carry out our alterations to the car here.

The only point which occurs to us with reference to the body, as shewn on Sch.2317, is the distance from the windscreen to the steering wheel. On the general run of sports cars such as Lorraine and 14 HP. Delage, the distance from the top of the steering wheel to the windscreen is only 2" or 3". This means that in spite of the small area of glass, the driver gets ample protection. In addition, he gets a good range of vision.

On 10-EX at present, the horizontal distance from the top of the steering wheel to the screen is 9". This means that the driver gets a very considerable draught round the back of the neck at speed, and also gets wet in bad weather. Possibly the U screen will be better, but we still feel that it should be nearer the driver. The advantage of a flat hinged screen (Lorraine, Delage), is that it can be brought nearer the driver without spoiling ingress to the seats. We would like you to consider from your model whether we have done everything possible in this direction, as we feel certain that a screen 4.00" nearer the driver would make all the difference for comfort and vision. We do not consider that ingress from the driver's side
