Trials Car. The above car came to the Clan Foundry for us to investigate a complaint of petrol flooding from the front carb. and a petrol leak from the hose joint when filling the petrol tank. In addition to the work entailed in overcoming this complaint we also took the opportunity of measuring the Cylinder Bores, decarbonising the engine and attending to all the other jobs that we considered necessary. The following is a list of the actual work carried out. All joints and connections examined. The large joint of the filler spout was responsible for the petrol leak when filling the petrol tank and was due to a loose Jubilee Clip. This clip was badly corroded and a new clip was fitted. Front Carburetter was flooding due to a worn needle and seat, new float chamber top complete with needle and seating fitted, and carb. level re-set. Cylinder Head removed and cleaned, Piston tops cleaned, valves removed from Cylinder Head, re-ground and re-fitted. Cylinder Head re-fitted with new Gasket and new Induction Pipe Washers. Carburetters re-set. Ignition Distributor cleaned and re-set. Sparking Plugs removed, cleaned and re-set at .025". Air Silencer Bracket broken, repaired and re-fitted. New Solonoid Switch for starting carb. operation fitted to Induction Pipe. General Oil Filter. New Filter Element fitted to Engine oil not changed. -continued- | ||
