W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq. 2nd December, 1940. - 2 - By fitting a suitable lining it should be possible to collect the carrier plates in the keel. The point at which the plates enter the keel appears, from your drawing, to be exactly opposite the run of flying cables on one side and trimming cables on the other, and it will, therefore, be necessary to alter the run of these cables and to protect them from the ejected plates. It is allowed to eject the empty cartridge cases to earth through the underside of the removable gun doors. The mounting plates shown at G-G on your drawing are for the 20 m.m. gun and would of course be replaced by a suitable housing for your spherical mounting. We would point out that the keel increases in width from 21 ins. at former 69 to 23 ins. at former 61 1/2 and that the projection on the gun body at this point appears to foul. The floor bearers at the point "H" on your drawing could be modified and strengthened if necessary to carry the gun rear mounting. B.U.S.M. type Magazine. It would appear that an entirely new floor construction would be necessary to accommodate this type of magazine, unless it were possible to lower the whole gun. In this case, the removable doors can be made any shape necessary to cover the guns if they should protrude through the present outline. Yours sincerely, L G Frise Enclosure. | ||
