The attached print shows the permanent distortion which took place in the axle of 1-B-IV during the recent test when we were trying to buckle the front springs. This axle is one of the earliest unstrengthened type.

We understand that Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} has already made provision in the latest scheme to take care of the bending stresses which produce the permanent distortion in the horizontal plane shown on the sketch.
