COPY. Paris, March 12th, 1928. Mr. R.{Sir Henry Royce} W. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Bailey, Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby, England. Dear Mr. Bailey: In my report to New York after visiting you last month I said in part: "Mr. Nadin spoke of one slight difficulty he had found at Springfield with regard to the water pump lubrication. He said that a number of cars had developed squeaks in the water pump bearings after ten or twelve thousand miles. This seemed to be due to an accumulation of some sludgy substance just beyond the outlet of the drip plug which impeded the flow of oil to the bearing. I assume, of course, that you know of this difficulty and have found a solution. If so, it might be well to let Mr. Bailey and myself know of the cure." I have had a letter from New York and I am handing you here-with a copy of Mr. Bijur's comments on the condition above referred to. I believe that my comments on this letter are not necessary as it is self-explanatory. However, if you feel that I can be of use to you in this or any other matter concerning our system please call upon me. Yours very truly, (Sgd) Fred C. Booth. | ||
