I am in receipt of your letter of the 10th inst and note the Contents. I herewith enclose Drawing of the Fan Pulley & Control Rod. The Drawing was made to Convert the Standard Fan Pulley of 15 HP Daimler & 10 HP Lanchester. From this you will see that it is simply an Adaption of a Cone Type Clutch, Operated by a Control running Through the Stationary Spindle. I found on Road Test that the results were very Satisfactory. Starting up, Engine temperature was reached quicker & under road condition, Thermometer reading was quite constant. The Tests were carried out on a Ltd 15HP Daimler with manual Control of Fan Spindle also Tests were made with Spindle Operated by Thermostat. I have since found that a Flat Plate Clutch has numerous advantages, over the Cone Type. In fact the model I have at the Present time is Flat Plate Type. This Type of Pulley is of course only designed for engines with Triangle belt drive, I.E. Belt Driving Dynamo & Fan. It is then of Course useless for the Pulley to Run at all Times. | ||
