Re Axle periods & Jaggering Clutches,

With reference to axle periods and clutch jaggering on cars with double brake axle, I consider that we should not fit spring couplings again, they are unreliable.
Axle periods have been very considerably improved since removing the foot brake drum and as long as we are improving and at the same time making the car more reliable we should be content.

I suggest we experiment to try and find out why the period is more marked on some cars than others.
Clutch jaggers I consider are more serious because there we have gone back, clutch jaggers on top gear have only come on since we removed the foot brake drum. We are more likely to get complaints from customers from this cause, it does not require an expert to notice clutch jaggers.

A spring coupling only partially cures this complaint and oil on the clutch entirely cures it, so we should push on with the experiments to make the clutch more oil retaining.
