To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. Mr. Brock. X87826 EFC. absent. EFC1/T28.12.27. N.B. DYNAMOS. First machine received GV.85. This machine with the slightly altered angle now passes the production test and is suitable for production. Second machine GV.65. We are awaiting the receipt of this back from Mr. Brock with the altered angle. Third machine GV.55. This has now been tested as originally received and found to be low. It requires the altered angle of 1° less between the control brush and the positive brush. We are accordingly sending it to Mr. Brock for this alteration. Fourth machine HU.45 This we find to pass our production test and in fact to have a similar performance to our experimental machines, i.e. a performance as hoped for from all these machines. We are therefore using this to make a comparison of the heating of the machine with our representative experimental machine of this type. We have five further machines which have not yet been investigated. As it is necessary now to fix the angle, we should be pleased if you would arrange for an alteration of 1°, giving the angle between the positive brush and the control brush as 121° instead of 122° as stated. That means that possibly on some of the machines the output may ultimately be a little bit on the high side on the peak, but we are sure from our results that there is still quite a big margin, for what we call the maximum permissible output for a given degree of heating, which we take to be the limit. EFC. Dynamo GV.65 has now been received back from Mr. Brock. machines sent to Mr. Brock | ||
