Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your letter dated the 2nd of the month.

We shall take careful note of the loads of the dampers fitted with bellows produced to the .010" limits. We are also having some gauges made for measuring the bellows diameters.

With regard to checking the rating of the bellows, we are making a small oil pressure rig, which will give the exact conditions of the bellows in position. If this is successful we will send you one.

When we have checked the new bellows, we will have the internal diameter added to the drawing.

With regard to the length of the bellows, is it more difficult for you to reverse the limits for the free length and solid length ? so that the solid length would be .536" - .050" and the free length .636" + .025". In the assembly we have to fit washers to allow for the variation in free length, whereas we do not mind what the solid length is so long as the bellows will compress at least .125". Perhaps you will let us have your comments before we alter the other features on the drawing.

The only other bellows which we are likely to need for production is the 1 1/4" diameter. We shall send you an order for 12 units for experimental use, combining the 1 1/4" dia. bellows and the staggered end plate as used on our part F.85875. We suggest that you should send us a drawing giving the limits you require, when you have made these units.
