re 40/50 Tank Engine Starter Motor.

We are pleased to say that we got the tank engine starter to work at the enormous inclination of 45° fore and aft in either direction, with the minimum of alteration, by the adding of a small solenoid and a stronger spring.

These modifications were finished off in record time by the works and the engine has been despatched.

We propose to standardise the solenoid for future tank work as the scheme on which the W.O. wish us to operate is to follow the chassis engine as closely as possible so that in an emergency chassis engines could be converted for tank use.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
