30th. September 1937.

Messrs. Borg & Beck Co. Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa,
Warwicks.

For the attention of Mr. Armitage.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of 27th. Sept. enclosing sample of steel for the cushion segments of the Phantom III clutch plate.

The Brinell figure appears satisfactory, but the increase in the thickness of from .031 to .035 - .036 means an increase about 45% in stiffness.

We confirm our 'phone call of this afternoon, when we asked you to please prepare a plate with segments made from this steel for us to try.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
