R/C. FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SC. R.{Sir Henry Royce} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PY. SECRET. JAPAN 3. CON. ROD BIG END. E2/W7.2.31. x5030. We notice that owing to the increase in dia. of the crankpin over the 25HP. the con. rod big end will no longer pass through the cylinder bore, being 3.5" wide. We are looking into the question of reducing this dimension but we should be glad if you would confirm that the method of assembly by threading rods and pistons through the cyl. block is definitely of use either in the production or the repair departments.
