(4) E.6/HP.9.11.32. The first engine unit have been issued to LoC. 3269 but an alternative scheme will be required for the final design, cutting out the steel tube extensions of the crankcase, with a view to simplification and economy. The scheme for carrying the rear end of the engine is already issued, the number being No. Sch.3528 and with regard to the engine torque reaction dampers, these will be the same as the 20/25, but some modification will be necessary because the frame is nearer to the engine. (22) Clutch. The design for this is issued to M.Sch.3574. (23) Front Axle. This is the same as Peregrine. (24) Back Axle. This will be the same as Peregrine, with the exception of a modified ratio of 4:1, and the larger diameter bevels 8 1/2" instead of 8". (25) Starter Motor. The J.3. starter motor will be required on account of the smaller clutch and flywheel, and the larger ratio necessary for starting this high compression engine. A design covering the mounting has been issued to LoC. 3256. (26) Radiator and Suspension. - Instructions have been issued to LoC. which, combined with the various M.schemes we have received, complete what is necessary for making the first radiator and this applies to the subsequent chassis to be produced. (27) Oil Tank. An oil tank will be required in conjunction with the dry sump scheme, and this tank will be located under the front apron between the dumb irons. A scheme is in hand covering this section at WW. (28) Shock Dampers. Instructions are available for fitting the rear dampers on this car of J.3. type, and BY will prepare a scheme for the front end. (29) Instrument Board. A scheme is in hand for this at WW. (30) Road Wheels. The road wheel hubs are being instructed for the knock on type of detachable wheel. | ||
