we hoped by stiffening the frame in this manner. The design Dept. are projecting a four-point mounting for the future. Individual cars vary so much that it is very very difficult to pass an intelligent opinion on the results of a single test. We believe it is a move in the right direction, however. We are doing further tests with pressure velocity dampers in front.

BRAKES.

Harder drums. We do not get many complaints of scoring so are hardly justified in going to the fully ground drum. Have you any experience of Chromium plated drums? Nobody is very much good at chromium plating over here yet. I should think it might reduce corrosion and so brake squeaks.

CADMIUM PLATED ROAD SPRINGS.

We have run a set on the bump. Their life is quite as good as a similar spring unplated. We think they have possibilities and are trying them out on a large scale. So far we cannot say much about their riding qualities. We imagine their lubricated inter-leaf friction would not differ much from standard but that they would not corrode.

SHOCK DAMPERS.

You will see we are getting some reliable pictures We will take some cards of the shock dampers that you have standardised with the slotted valve as soon as we get a chance - we hope next week. However, until we get a time displacement curve of the front and rear axle movements, we shall still be working in the dark as to what our normal effective damping under road conditions is. We are pushing these tests forward as far as we can.
