Modifications to a double-acting thermostat for radiator shutters.

We send herewith LeC. 2799. shewing the operation of the thermostat modified to be double acting, but with a handy means of detaching the shutter control when it is desired to use the starting handle. We are using the Smith calostat as we had it before except that the holes will be in slightly different position in the flange. It will also be remembered that Mr. Royce is asking for the shutters to open at a much lower temperature. We would draw your attention to the water spreader shewn with this radiator which has been made longer so that the ports project beyond the body of the thermostat. With the old water spreader the port on the thermostat side is practically blanked off, in other words, the jet of water on that side would be playing on the thermostat and be largely reflected back. The drawing deals with the shallower radiator tank for the radiator with .750 higher shoulders, and matrix, so it is therefore applicable to either type. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
