attribute most of this due to increase in compression.
On the old cars the amount of compression we could
run with was decided by detonations. 7.CA with
the 4.33 compression ratio, does not detonate worse
than the old cars. We have for some time used two
stages of compression, this should be continued.
High compression for fast touring cars, low
compression for covered cars.

X.762. 3. Shock Absorbers.
We must fit shock absorbers similar
to Truffault, we consider the advantages gained by
them are most marked.

X.2938. 4. Lightened Valves. with 30° seats made of chromium steel.
7.CA has run 3000 miles with these
valves, and they are in perfect condition. We
consider a car should run 10,000 miles without
needing attention.

X.3082. 5. Wiring.
We consider it is essential that we
should fit a proper scheme of wiring for the starter
motor and fighting dynamo lamp and Klaxon.

6. Slipper wheel.
The weight and diameter of the slipper
wheel could be reduced.

7. Balance weights. should not be fitted.
We have now had a number of repair
engines in which have been fitted balance weights.
There is no noticable difference in the wear of
bearings or shaft.

X.3129. 8. Coil.
With the starter we can use a non-
trembler coil. The ignition will be more reliable
and require less attention.

X545. 9. Under shields.
These are continually breaking,
especially the front one. It is evident that the
bent aluminium will not stand the distortion of the
frame at that point.

We have no car at present which we consider is
sufficiently good to go to America as a sample after the war
chassis. The only two cars we know of available are, 7.CA
and 49.CB but both of these cars are doing most useful work
at present. We do not consider they can be spared.

X.682. 7.CA. This is five years old although a number of new
parts have been added, the frame, axle tubes, radiator, bonnet,
