ENGINE X634 Vibrations.
1649. old type crankshaft 6 lbs compression
"Coronation" & Retard rattles Experiments.
Result.
Nº1 Balance weights fitted. | No difference
" 2 Slipper wheel slacked off & tightened | When slack, comes in forward 45 mph also on gear.
" 3. Balance weights taken off. | No diff.
" 4 Slipper wheel right off. | Went to higher speed on retard same.
" 5. Towed car on 2nd gear | Rattles same as running.
" 6 Towed with rods & pistons off | V.G. run to 28 mph. on 1st Gear.
7 Pistons & rods fitted again | Rattles bad.
" 8. Fitted with pistons weighing 1 lb 15 ozs. | V.G. not so good as shaft only
" 9. Fitted with pistons 3 lbs 7 ozs. conver. | Rattles Bad. ->
