Will you please issue a Depot Sheet dealing with early Bentley S.U. Carburetter float chamber covers breaking. On the early carburetters it was necessary to face the boss on the float chamber cover by .060 - .070 to remove the transverse slots. The operation made the section at this point approx. .020 thick, and cases have occurred while in service of this portion breaking through, and there are still possibilities of this on carburetters fitted prior to October 1936. After this the filter housing has been strengthened up, and no known failures have occurred. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
