Mer RE DOUBLE REAR BRAKE EXPERIMENTS. X.719 Brake Drums with Cooling Ribs. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} for R.{Sir Henry Royce} 31.7.14. By1/G31714. These drums were ordered up by me for use with ferodo 6/7/14. They are the same width as standard drum. I urged Order Office on this experiment, when I found one drum had been delivered I wrote Works 20/7/14 asking "to get this in hand as the job was not moving fast enough in view of the extreme urgency of brake question." The parts were fitted to a car 25/7/14 complete. I understand Mr. Haldenby has the car and no news has yet been received as to behaviour of new cooled drums. The second pair were despatched to St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Margarets 30/7/14. X.1373. The wider drums with cooling ribs are being machined in the Works. These drums were ordered up 10/7/14 complete experiment was instructed 13/7/14, and the brake drums are being machined as stated. This experiment was originally instructed by Mr. Royce with C.I.
