Brooklands Tests. X788 X4299 X3056 X790

Confirming telephone message this morning, we hope that you will be able to send us the result of the petrol consumption tests on the 14 and 15 tooth axles, as it is very essential that we should know the relative petrol consumptions before deciding the policy of how far to make use of each result.

The telephone message sent was as follows:-

"CJ has examined Brooklands tests and requires urgently result of comparative petrol consumption tests with 14 and 15 axles as requested by BJ on the 10th July EWJ/H10.7.22. Brooklands tests otherwise useless.
Mr. Royce coming London on Monday, Board Meeting Tuesday wish to decide policy.
Have you tested with original medium and lowest compressions or only with original high and medium compressions? Understand we now only use original medium and lowest compressions."

We should of course have been interested to have a comparison between the two compressions which we now use, which I understand are the same as the medium and lowest compressions which were in use before our decision no longer to use the original high compression. The original high compression was 23 1/2; the original medium compression was 26, and these are the compressions which you have apparently used in your Brooklands Test, but you have apparently not made a test of the lowest compression we now use.

Please let me know what is the average of the lowest compression we now use.

B.J.
