Notes of tests taken with various Foot Pumps as enumerated.

--------

Steel cylinder having a capacity of approximately an 815 x 105 m/m tyre, fitted with a 6" dial. Gauge guaranteed to within 1 lb. limit of accuracy.

All Pumps worked to produce a pressure of 50 lbs. in the same cylinder.

--------

Kismet Junior - No. of strokes taken ... ... 188.

Kismet Duplex - No. of strokes taken ... ... 165.
(Note - both these Pumps have a maximum foot lift of 13½" from the ground but in operation it was found that the toe step rose to an approximate average height of 11", at which stroke results were none too good. From numerous tests however, it is found that the height to which the foot is raised when using these Pumps with abnormally high toe steps, is usually less than this and comes down to as low as 8" or 9" with consequent still further decreased efficiency.)

Woodmilne - No. of strokes taken ... ... 145.
(Note - owing to the admittedly very bad general construction of this make Pump, the number of strokes taken, which is pretty good, would be far worse as soon as the Pump had been in commission for a short length of time.)

"BRISTOL" - No. of strokes taken ... ... 120.

"B.P.T." - No. of strokes taken ... ... 113.
(Note - the latter has a foot lift of 11¾" from the ground as compared with 10" only in the case of the "BRISTOL" and on the occasion of this test the full lift was allowed at each stroke, whereas if operated at the more comfortable and correct maximum lift of 10", the number of strokes taken would have been slightly higher than in the case of the "BRISTOL", whilst it must also be remembered that owing to the unique leverage of the "BRISTOL", the ease with which the air is obtained is slightly greater than with the "B.P.T.")

The following are the results of gauge reading tests:-
Kismet Junior - 10 lbs. inaccurate.
Kismet Duplex - 8 lbs. do.
Woodmilne - 8 lbs. do.
"BRISTOL" - 1 lb. do.
"B.P.T." - 8 lb. do.
