S/W Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WST R-R and Bentley Headlamps. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}4/KW20.3.34. In answer to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst8/KW16.3.34. I think your suggestion that the headlamps on R-R and Bentley cars should dip to the nearside in the case of the left lamp and vertically in the case of the ofside lamp would be an improvement on illumination when dipped, in fact I believe it would be still further improved if the offside lamp dipped to the right, but I rather hesitate to suggest that unless the dip were made fairly excessive, for fear that oncoming motorists would not appreciate a lamp dipped towards them even though there were no dazzle. I used to use a 40/50 with Barker dipping headlights, and had my lamps arranged so that when dipped they spread as above suggested, and I found the effect was extremely good. I experienced no opposition then, so possibly there would be none now so long as the dip of the offside lamp was ample. It might be worth while trying a pair of lamps so adjusted. This scheme would certainly help when cornering. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Sueb | ||
