Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8530 BY7/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 15.8.27. GROUPED INSTRUMENTS ON INSTRUMENT BOARD. Referring to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/M.13.8.27. with reference to the points mentioned under Headings 1, 2, and 3, at the end of the memo, the information we have is as follows:- 1. F.75559. did not show the A.T.Speedometer with a trip as a memo from yourself said this was not essential for the first EAC.7. 2. Mr.North, when he was up at the Works on Thursday last, showed to me an almost-completed clock of the new type. He intended writing direct to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on the matter, as he would like to have seen R.{Sir Henry Royce} to discuss certain points in connection with the clock. It will be another week before the clock in question is completed. 3. The Old English type of dial, which was submitted originally, was turned down by R.{Sir Henry Royce} when we later submitted what is known in the trade as the "Venetian Cream" finish, and the special set of instruments on order for the 'grouped' proposal is to be fitted with dials of this type. It is a porcelain watch finish with a very slight greenish tinge on a cream finish. This type of dial, when submitted to R, was preferred by him to the Old English finish, which, when compared with the "Venetian Cream", looked merely like an old and somewhat discoloured white.
