re Lucas WT. Horns.

Replying to your memo. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/AP.31.7.37., we would like to point out that the only difference between the WT.11X type (standard) and the WT.13 type Lucas horn, is that the latter has an elbowed trumpet which was introduced to avoid failure when subjected to mist.

Unfortunately this modification has resulted in a lowering of the note and a loss of power. Messrs. Lucas are at the present time working on a further modification in an attempt to avoid this loss in power: we quite agree that the horn in its present state is not good enough. With regard to the breaking of the screws we have taken the matter up with Messrs. Lucas. The horns on 37-EX were the WT.11X type, and as explained above, would be louder than the latest type (WT.13).
