EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} X4338 29th May, 1924. AC.18. X.4081. X.4338. CUTOUT SHUNT SWITCH CONNECTION. X.4410. 20 HP. An experiment has been tried to find whether connecting the shunt winding of the cutout of the 20 HP. chassis, to the field terminal of the charging switch, instead of the dynamo armature terminal, would reduce sparking at the switch contacts. The standard and the alternative connections were first tried using a Lucas charging switch and then with an R.R. standard switch; but in neither case could any difference in sparking be observed between the two arrangements.
