Dear Mr. Ross:- This will acknowledge your letter of December 5th giving us the details on the size of Matrix used by your Company in England. Evidently the diameter of the tubes which they use is .295" and the water space between the tubes would only be .020". We wish to thank you very kindly for your Purchase Order 11806-P calling for 8,650 - .268" diameter x 4" long baffled tubes and 6,500 - 5/16" diameter x 4" long baffled tubes. Also sufficient half tubes. We anticipate being able to make shipment on Tuesday, Dec. 9th. Our standard price on .268 o.d. x 4" tubes is $4.45 per thousand F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} S. New York City but if your English Company should decide to standardize on these tubes we would be willing to name a price of $4.19 per thousand F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} S. New York City. This price is based on 11 1/2c copper. The very best price that we could name on the 5/16" o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 4" tubes would be $4.19 per thousand F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} S. New York City. It so happens that our manufacturing cost is practically identical on the .268 o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 4" and the 5/16" o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 4" tubes. These prices include tubes securely boxed for export. There are 6870 tubes to the case in the .268 o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} size and 5044 to the case in the 5/16" size. With reference to the 9" tubes, we supply these with either a 1/4" or a 1/2" long hex. The most popular type for airplane work in this country is the .268" diameter. We can name a price of $9.17 per thousand F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} S. New York City on tubes .268 o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 9" long with either a 1/4" or 1/2" long hexagonal end. The width across the flats of hexes is .308" and the wall thickness is .006". We are also in a position to furnish this same tube having a wall thickness of .00475" at $19.04 per thousand F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} S. New York City. We further quote a price of $17.75 per thousand F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} S. New York City on .268 o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 9" long tubes with a .006" wall but with the flats of the hexes expanded to .323". We believe that this letter gives you a good idea on prices for .268 o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} and 5/16" o.{Mr Oldham} d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} tubes for the Rolls-Royce Matrix. We have also given you our best prices on airplane radiator tubes 9" long of different designs. We are extremely anxious to give you the benefit of our full co-operation, and if there are any further questions or details, please be sure and let me know. Either the writer or our Mr. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} A.{Mr Adams} Foisy will only be too glad to come to Springfield and iron out any questions with your Mr. Hives prior to his departure for England. | ||
