The attached report is a summary of the investigation work we have been carrying out on the Phantom III steering. The general situation with regard to Ph.III steering is as follows. It is necessary to put flexibility into the system to reduce road shocks; if we do this we increase the tendency to low speed steering wobbles. We are finishing up with a compromise, but we know that this will never be considered as an entirely satisfactory steering. We are prevented from reducing the backward pivot lean by the fact that if we do this, when the brakes are applied the pivots lean forward and the car tends to dive. We are urging the Wraith lever arrangement which we hope will put matters right. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Att: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J.
