X.8664b. HIGHER OUTPUT PHANTOM II DYNAMOS.

It is now considered expedient to produce three higher output Phantom II dynamos similar to the one required for the Prince of Wales car, which has been referred to in our EFC3/AD28.1.30 and EFC7/AD5.2.30. These machines are in all respects, except direction of rotation, similar to previous 56-coil Phantom I higher output machines which have been produced. The reason of this is that such machines are to be considered less experimental at the moment than the 48-coil machines asked for in our EFC6/AD5.2.30, though ultimately it is expected that the 48-coil machines will prove quite suitable for standard.

There would seem no question but that the 56-coil machines now asked for will be required, because in any case they could be used as alternative higher output machines with the 48-coil/polar modification.
