32-EX. PHANTOM III.

Exhaust System.

Thank you for your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}/8/R.26.7.37. If Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} will again read our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}/5/JAB.15.7.37, to which the above is in answer, he will see that his suggestion to fit a band round the pipe in place of the broken stud was carried out at the time the failure was reported. We referred to it as a "clamp", perhaps this was misleading.

The exhaust system has run I.600 miles since the failure with no further trouble.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} Frank Waller.
