Dear Sirs, With regard to your letter of the 3rd instant, we have delayed replying until the Instruments which we were re-working for you as regards the dials and so forth were more nearly ready. As a matter of fact the writer did not quite appreciate that we should really have to make you a new Speedometer drive cable. Some doubt has now arisen, however, as to what the bottom end of the Speedometer drive will have to be, but we are presuming that it is to be identical with the revolution counter drive. However, in order that there shall be no possible doubt, would you be good enough to advise us whether the drive is to be made to your print DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1060 as regards the finish of the end, and also if you will be good enough to return to us the nickle plated Speedometer cable already sent to you, we should then be able to convert the lower end quite quickly. We have had some little difficulty in getting the dials to be nicely true, which was so necessary to obtain even lighting, and this difficulty has been because the dials are hand made instead of being pressed in the usual manner. We shall be in a position, however, to return these Instruments to you directly the cable drive particulars are confirmed, and as soon as we can prepare the cable end. As regards the four pairs of Instruments which you mention, we are interested to know that the figure of 798 will be near enough, but we would point out to you that we have received no Order for this, and it was our understanding that we were not to do anything about this until we had had an Order together with final instructions.
