SEALED PETROL FILLER AIR VENT. We believe you have received a memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}8/KW.24.2.34 from us re the above, in which case will you please ignore it, as there has been some error made in sending it out. We tried out scheme/F.85633 on 22-EX and found that petrol surged up through the vent plug when running normally with a full tank; also that it flowed through very freely when taking moderate bends in the road with approx. 18 galls. in the tank. We then fitted a baffle 3" long to the tank end of the main vent pipe, with the idea of momentarily baffling the petrol when cornering, but this was not successful. However, with slight modifications to F.85633 we have obtained a satisfactory vent through which petrol will not surge even when taking a bend at 50-60 M.P.H. The Drawing No. of this scheme is F.86074. We are issuing a Standardisation Sheet for this scheme immediately. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/J.Bowering. | ||
