to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} SECRET. X5830 EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}5/29.4.29. copy to H W. [obscured] RE BODY FOR 17.G.4. We have arranged with Sales to let you have the Park Ward Weymann Saloon body off chassis OTM.22. This is a body built under Weymann License and the complete coachwork weighs 8cwt.0qrs. 13lbs. It is covered in black leather cloth, and upholstered in stained natural tanned hide. We have sent the car to Messrs Park Wards Works at Willesden to have the scuttle modified to suit the new raised dash, and this work has been promised to be completed by Wednesday next May 1st.1929. We will send you a wire when to send for it. We are sending you the body complete with wings, valances and steps. As the chassis of 17.G.4. is almost the same as that of 22.OTM. we see no reason why they should not suit. The wings were made to suit the 21ins. rims with 5ins. tyres. We do not think they will look too bad with the smaller wheels. In any case it would be impossible to alter the rear wings. The instrument board will be of no use to you. Will you kindly arrange for the board to be made in Derby on the lines of that for 12.G.4. see N.Sch.2538. We hope you will be able to fit the Revised Framed Instruments. We presume that chassis OTM.22. will have had the body brackets moved to what we call the Weymann body position. We suggest that you will have to fit the brackets of 17.G.4. in similar positions. We do not know whether the steps of 17.G.4. have been raised as on India 3. or not. If they have, some modifications will be called for to the vallances. We would be glad if CX{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/HN.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} would find out when the body can be collected and wire to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} also sending an official order to the coachbuilders to carry out the work. We have asked that all the accessories be left with the chassis. The lamps we want for this car are:- HEAD LAMPS. Lucas Biflex. Black. WING LAMPS. Lucas streamline, black. TAIL LAMP. Lucas S.220. INSTRUMENT BOARD LAMP. "HOMER" We have asked that the interior fittings be changed from plain nickel to nickel and ivory. The car has Triplex Glass throughout. In the writer's opinion the front seats are too low, and he suggests that, should you agree, they can be raised in Derby. The headroos, floor to roof is 46 1/4 ins. [Handwritten notes] AJL Please arrange with Newport to collect this body when it is ready.
