Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA.26.5.33. VIBRATOR CONTROLLED DYNAMOS 40/50 AND BENTLEY CHASSIS. Answering your PN.{Mr Northey}6/WT.24.5.33., we do not anticipate that the dynamo will be called upon to run at its maximum speed at outputs above 12 amperes assuming that road speeds at night in wet weather with headlamps and windscreen wipers in action would not exceed say 60 M.P.H. for any length of time. Even if 60 watt headlamp bulbs were used we consider that the dynamo would be OK. as the lower ambient temperature under the bonnet at high speeds would allow a bigger temperature rise on the dynamo and thus a higher output if required. We intend to verify this as soon as possible by actual road tests. With regard to the temperature rise query in the first paragraph of your note, this was 58°C. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
