(1) By far the finest chassis in America and far better than a Bentley Mark V.{VIENNA} We sounded out J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Murphy, mechanic of the car, where we found out a few facts. e.g. he said that he thought it should do no more m.p.g. on oil than the old car, which was about the same. The petrol consumption, which we filled, was 9.1 m.p.g. on a fast, normal American run. (2) Fast run on concrete loop from post 3.00 to post 5.15 and up the cinder lane up to [illegible] and back to post 20 was what we were timed on. The time was 2m 30.7s. The oil temp. going up the hill was 95-97°C. The oil used was a very substantial oil, perhaps an S.A.E. 30 which is what they recommend in winter for this car. The water temp. never rose to 185°F i.e. 85°C. The air temperature was 76°F or probably around (25°C). | ||
