Re. 25 HP. Pedals to 19P.F.S8013. X5470

The pedal shaft on the above chassis had the bearing and barrelled to get over the alongation of the bearing in the gearbox as was experienced on 19.G.IV. This proved to be very good at the finish of the 10,000 miles test.
Further mileage, however, has proved that this method is not good and considerable scoring of the bearing surface of the shaft has taken place. The scoring appears to be the worst where the load of the brakes is taken by the shaft.

There is no provision made for lubricating the bearing and up to the present it has had to rely on the oil vapour from the clutch pit. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} have seen the condition and the design is to be altered to make further improvements.
