Kingsway, LONDON, W.C.2 27th January, 1927. Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Sirs, With further reference to your letter EFC2/T of the 6th January, we have gone very thoroughly into your report concerning the U.4 valve complained of. In the first place, we have replaced to you at no charge the valve which you returned. This replacement we trust you have now received in satisfactory order. We find it difficult to reconcile the statement you make with the facts as we find them, more particularly as you state that the results were obtained on moving coil instruments, and with no smoothing apparatus. In order to help to clear the matter up, we are enclosing herewith a series of characteristic curves taken on the U.4 valve under the various conditions. If you study this, we think you will appreciate our argument. Perhaps when you have finished with these curves, you will return these to us. In the meantime, we would suggest that if your representative happens to be in London in the near future, we shall be very pleased to arrange for an appointment to be made for him to discuss the whole WORKS WITTON, BIRMINGHAM, COVENTRY, HAMMERSMITH, WEMBLEY, LEMINGTON-ON-TYNE, ERITH, SOUTHAMPTON, LONDON.
