X1581 WATSON & SONS. LTD. 43, Parker, Street, Kingsway. London, W.C.2. Oil Immersed Transformer Your ref. Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}/Ms2O/FJ. TB/HN.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} 23rd. November, 1920. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, Nightingale Road, D E R B Y. X1109 X1581 Dear Sirs, With further reference to our letter of the 13th instant, we have now been carefully into the question of the insulation testing transformer (1 kilowatt capacity) in the light of further particulars kindly given us in your letter of the 19th instant, and we would suggest that the most suitable type of instrument would be the Oil immersed Transformer. Its dimensions would be roughly 15" x 14" x about 12" high, measured over its insulators. We estimate the cost at:- £ 45. 0. 0. nett. As regards the change of frequency, we would suggest that the easiest way of doing this would be to make a compromise in such a way that its normal working frequency should be 45 cycles. There would then be no difficulty in using the transformer on 40 cycles or 50 cycles. With a supply voltage of 200 the secondary tension would be 20,000 volts. We should be able to make delivery of the machine within about three weeks from date of order and trust we may be favoured with your esteemed instructions to proceed. Yours faithfully, WATSON & SONS.
