Ordering and trying out experimental batteries for the 'Goshawk' project.

Peto & Radford about battery dimensions, we have decided to try out experimentally batteries of the approx. size and assembly which they recommend in their letter M/C.2110, copy of which we attach. We are able to modify the battery box to accomm-odate this battery satisfactorily. We should, therefore, be glad if you would kindly place on order two of these batteries for earliest possible delivery, mentioning our letter EFC1/T25.10.21. Will you also kindly order from the C.A.V. Company, one further 12-XR-2 C.A.V.Willard threaded rubber battery similar in every respect to the previous battery of this designation. We shall then have four batteries of size suitable for Goshawk and if we receive one from Messrs. Lucas, this will make the fifth. Mr. Royce stated in one of his notes that we should not order a battery from Lucas'. We have, however, given Messrs. Lucas dimensions and there seems no reason why they should not be afforded the opportunity of submitting to us a battery, though we have not asked them in writing to do this. It is understood that six experimental Goshawk chassis are being put through the works so that presumably Contd. R.R. 238A.
