X.2894. TUNGSTEN IGNITION CONTACT POINTS.

It will be remembered from our reports of some time ago that the performance of tungsten battery ignition contact points was considerably improved by the modification of the contact breaker mechanism providing for :-

(a) Flexible fixed contact point support.
and (b) The floating contact breaker lever spring anchorage.

Quite a number of the cases of tungsten contact point complaints have been concerned with contact points used in conjunction with the earlier arrangement of contact breaker mechanism. We wish to recommend that the later design should be included as is reasonably possible whenever cases of tungsten contact point complaint occur.
