BENTLEY 3½ Litre Petrol Gauge Wire.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} has reported that the rubber covered 3 core cable running from the petrol gauge in the tank to the petrol meter on the dash board, becomes softened due to the effect of petrol.

The new cable fitted to all later cars has a petrol resisting covering, and in view of the fact that the complaints of the existing cable becoming soft, are not numerous, we do not propose at this stage to introduce a new cable which would require to be specially manufactured.

We do recommend however in cases you deal with that you obtain lengths of oil and petrol resisting sleeving and thread over the cable at the point were the petrol is most likely to attack the rubber.

This should afford all the protection necessary and will avoid the cost of a new cable.
