Dear Dick,

Thank you so much for your letter of the 31st. December.

It is very good of you to fix these steel strips. It is a very unselfish act since you are never going to be able to afford to run one of our products again. However, should your temporary financial embarrassment ever be alleviated, we shall hope to induce you to run one of our post-war products. You will then obtain the benefit of our free-of-charge service as hitherto.
