To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED DERBY 10,000 MILE 20 HP. CAR - X.4612 SQUEAK DAMPER ON FRONT BRAKES. X.5420 X.5425 Herewith we send N.sch. 2359 shewing the proposed arrangement of squeak damper on the 20 HP. front brakes which we understand is urgently required for the 10,000 miles car about to be finished. Accordingly we are send the scheme directly to you and putting it through the other routine in parallel. We believe that there is clearance between the end of the cross steering tube and the squeak damper but if it is not sufficient the remedy will be to set down the cross steering lever a small amount. We have no particulars of the present dust shield except those on the original experimental report, and the clearance between this and the cross steering tube end has not been altered. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} We shew two alternative methods of construction of the shoe and the locating groove, and think we prefer the alternative in the L.H. top corner ourselves. Would Derby please choose the one they can make most easily. | ||
