To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 43806 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG21.2.29. BIJUR PUMP. These pumps which we have fitted to the 20 HP. and 'SS{S. Smith}' cars are not altogether satisfactory. As a result of our own tests and as a result of information received from Springfield and Messrs. Luvax, we think it is essential that the pump should be modified according to Fig.1. on N.sch.2830 with the addition of the spring controlled valve. We are very anxious to take advantage of the experience which Messrs. Luvax and Springfield have had with this system, therefore the safest policy is to follow their recommendations. We think this modification should be put through on all Bijur pumps. As we are increasing the spring pressure, we should like you to look into the question of the strength of the pedal, as we find on our experimental tests this is likely to bend.
