Sidgreaves - MD} 12/E21.4.36 - 2 - kinds of road surfaces which did not have a perfectly smooth surface. It was definitely much worse than 34-EX which, as I have mentioned, we had passed when fitted with the chamfered tyres. I quite agree that the original programme agreed for P.III was right as mentioned in the third paragraph of your memo. It may be that 36-EX's body is particularly resonant and if, when we have tried it, we consider that it is still not passable, we propose to send it to Hoopers to get the metal floorboard ripped out and the divided wooden floorboards put in as in 34-EX. In paragraph 1, Page 2, of your memo. you say it is only during the last few weeks that you have had more than one experimental car but surely this is not quite correct. Apart from your early cars, which for various causes were reduced in number, there were three further cars which we had at the time of the Show, Nos.33-EX, 34-EX and 35-EX. We have only had one of these for the last 3½ months which means that you had the other two. I quite agree that, before we can standardise rubber in the other two places, a very extensive amount of testing will have to be done. I am not clear as to what your actual programme is. In E4/HP17.4.36 it says that, when tried the other day, 32-EX had no rubber under the axle. Do I understand that this car is going for test to clear the Standardisation Sheet for the production cars? If so, when will it go? Then it says that 33-EX has rubber under the axle. What is the programme for this and on what further car do you propose to test the rubbered shackles? Sg. {Arthur F.
