5-B-IV. Steering Tests.

Front road springs anchored at front end.

Upon first taking over the car the steering felt very heavy cornering and manoeuvering. It did not feel stable. Steering wheel free from noticeable joggle.

Tyre pressures checked were as follows :-

N.S. front 23 lbs.
O.S. front 26 lbs.
N.S. rear 35 lbs.
O.S. rear 33 lbs.

Tyre pressures set to :-

N.S. front 35 lbs.
O.S. front 35 lbs.
N.S. rear 30 lbs.
O.S. rear 30 lbs.

Brake ropes found very slack. Pedal on board. Rear brake ropes cannot be sufficiently adjusted.

The steering is steady and stable, is on the heavy side for cornering and shunting. At high and medium speeds it is heavier than standard but consider it to be an improvement as standard is too light. It is free from irritating joggles. Self-centering fair, no self-centering up to 15 M.P.H.
