PHILCO CAR RADIO AERIALS Any car radio receiver is only as good as it is installed, and its efficiency in reproduction and the number of stations obtained are governed by the aerial fitted. Care should always be taken to fit the aerial most suited to the type of car. In every case where it is possible a roof aerial should be installed, but metal roofs, sliding roofs, etc., often make a roof aerial impracticable, and for this reason other types of aerial have been designed. UNDER CAR AERIAL This is a very efficient type of aerial. Adequate clearance from the car as well as the road is essential. The wire is mounted on unbreakable insulators, which in turn are anchored to the clutch housing, gear box or chassis cross section at the forward end, and to the rear axle " U " bolts at the rear end. A powerful spring holds the tension of the cable. Price 12/6 METALLIC CLOTH ROOF AERIAL This aerial can be installed in any roof which is not covered with metal, of the fixed head, sliding roof, convertible, touring, enclosed drive or any other special type. It should be noted that this is the only type of aerial that can be used successfully in touring and convertible hoods, as it is entirely flexible, and its bulk is no greater than that of an ordinary piece of cotton cloth. It is supplied complete with lead-in and fitting instructions. Price 13/6 TELESCOPIC AERIAL A tubular rod with telescopic action. It can be adjusted to any convenient height. When closed it will receive local stations, and for distant stations the aerial can be extended to a position when it is equivalent in performance to the roof aerial. Price to be announced RUNNING-BOARD AERIAL This aerial is made up of the Philco Metallic Cloth as used in the roof aerial. Two sections are contained in waterproof flexible envelopes—one under each running board and connected by a cross wire. Ample lead-in is provided to reach the set. This type of aerial is suitable and most efficient for wooden running boards, but if the running boards are metal the aerial must be stood off with wooden blocks to a distance of 3 inches to avoid interference. Price 19/6 The subject of aerials is dealt with fully in the Philco-Delco Installation and Service Manual. 8 ENSURES PERFECT RECEPTION | ||
